‘Rust’ is about peripheral zones trespassed by freight trains and the urban visual signs they carry painted on their hulk along the landscape. The same vehicles act like double lines stretched in tension: while they carry the goods that maintain the society’s power and consume, they also bring the marks — possibly a confrontation — of those who are smashed by this same society.
