stitching and embroidery on rugs
60 x 40 cm each aprx
2015 – ongoing

A series of works in which the narrative is constructed from stitching, embroidery and the application of scraps of cloth over cheap rugs. In these works, there is an urgency to talk about the prosaic, the infamous and the abject that drains from stories that were collected in a movement of transit between large urban centers and their peripheral regions. These are short and raw narratives, almost always violent or tragic, that reveal – in the simplistic and somewhat brutal gestures of drawing and needling – the demand for repair in face of injustice and oppression. The artist is the son of a seamstress.
